Extract: "The early seventeenth century has bequeathed us with two contrasting statements about comparison. For William Shakespeare, "Comparisons are odorous." For John Donne, "Comparisons are odious." Modern comparative law has to thoughtfully steer clear, and in equidistance, from both exaggerations."
